Child passports are issued with 5 years' validity. 16-17 year olds are issued a 10-year passport.

•  16-17 year olds: attend the interview with a parent.

•  Under 16: no need to attend the interview.

•  10 and over: you must sign section 18 ("Signature to go in the passport").

You'll need:

•  Completed PC8 form

•  Child's original full birth certificate

•  Proof the child is an Australian citizen

•  Proof of any change of name

•  Lodging parent's proof of address

•  Passports

•  Any court orders showing parental responsibility, if applicable

Bring the originals to your appointment - we'll sight them and hand them straight back. We can't accept copies.

Lost or stolen passport: apply for a replacement the usual way, and tell us what happened (a police report helps, if you have one). You won't qualify for streamlined renewal.

Singapore requires your passport to always have at least 6 months' validity. It's your responsibility to renew in time.

We can issue an Emergency Passport if you need to travel urgently for a compelling or compassionate reason and your passport is lost, stolen or damaged. Each case is assessed individually.

Emergency Passports are ready for collection 48 hours (2 business days) after you apply. Contact us or visit our office to apply, or report a lost or stolen passport via the Australian Passport Office.

If you're applying on a PC8 form, you'll need a guarantor to confirm your identity. The Australian Passport Office sets and maintains the requirements, including who qualifies and what they need to sign.

Passports are printed in Australia, so we can't offer priority processing here - you should allow up to 6-weeks to receive your new passport.

Can I apply online?

No - applications must be lodged in person at the High Commission, by appointment or by mail.

Who needs to attend in person?

Anyone 16 or over who has not previously been issued a 10-year passport.

How long is the wait?

Demand is high, so allow at least 6 weeks and apply well ahead of your travel dates.

Can I get priority processing?

No - that's only available within Australia.

Can I renew early?

Yes, any time. If you renew with more than 2 years' validity on your current passport, you must lodge in person.

Can someone collect my renewal form for me?

No - you must answer security questions yourself. You can print your own pre-filled form at Passports Online.

Can I print my form in black and white?

Yes.

Do you accept notarised copies?

No - originals only, no exceptions. If your originals aren't in Singapore, any Australian passport office worldwide can verify them and send us a copy; just tell them your application is in Singapore.

Can my passport be delivered?

Yes, free delivery within Singapore - ask us for details.

What does it cost?

Overseas applications include an overseas surcharge, already included in our Fee Table. It doesn't apply to replacement or emergency passports.

SGD or AUD?

All services are charged in AUD. Non-Australian cards may incur a foreign transaction fee from your bank.

Child passports

My child was born in Singapore - how do I get their passport?

First apply for Australian Citizenship by Descent. Once confirmed, use the citizenship certificate and Singapore birth certificate as part of your passport application. For Singapore birth certificates, contact Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority.

Who signs a child's application?

Everyone with parental responsibility - generally the parents named on the full birth certificate - must give written consent.

Who can witness our signatures?

Anyone who isn't related to you by birth or marriage and doesn't live with you - so not siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, in-laws or domestic helpers.

Can't get the other parent's consent?

A passport can sometimes be approved without it - for example, with an Australian court order. Contact us for advice; processing without consent can take an extra 4-6 weeks, and the fee isn't refunded if the application isn't approved.

Are there extra requirements for surrogacy-born children?

Other questions

Lost your citizenship certificate?

Contact the Department of Home Affairs for a replacement.

Need a replacement birth certificate?

Contact your state or territory's Births, Deaths and Marriages Registry.

Visa pages full but not expired?

Apply for a replacement - we can't add extra pages. With more than 2 years' validity left, a replacement costs less and has the same expiry date.

Damaged passport?

Book an appointment to lodge in person, and bring your passport with your new application.

Dual citizen - which passport for visiting Australia?

Always use your Australian passport to enter and leave Australia.

Never got an Australian passport - can I travel to Australia on my other foreign passport?

If you are an Australian citizen, you should enter and exit Australia using an Australian passport. Airlines will deny boarding without an Australian passport or valid visa. Australian citizens are not eligible for Australian visas on passports issued by another country.

What happens to visas in my old passport?

Contact the country that issued the visa - only they can advise on its validity with your new passport.
