Child Passport - Renewal

Guide for a Child renewal by mail
(PC8 - Overseas Passport Application form)

Eligibility:

Child passport renewal applications (PC8) can be mailed-in provided the applicant is:

  • aged up to 15 years old and
  • has held a previous passport  

If you can answer yes to the above, complete a PC8 passport application online.  

Note: First passport and applicants aged 16 or 17 must lodge in person by appointment.

Instructions

1. Complete your renewal application form online

  • The application must be lodged within six months of completion.

2. Print and sign your application form

  • Print your application on plain white A4 paper. Make sure your form has printed in full and isn't cut off at the top or bottom of the page. You may refer to printing your application form.
  • Sign the form using black pen, within the signature box. Make sure there are no alterations or whiteout on the signature or the date.
  • Children 10 years or older must provide a signature unless there is a medical reason or disability that prevents them from signing.

3. Photos

  • Include minimum two passport photos, less than six months old. Refer to photo guidelines for more information.
  • The back of one photo must be endorsed by the child’s guarantor, writing ‘This is a true photo of [the child’s full name]’ and signed in black pen.
  • Please do NOT attach the photos to the form as this may damage them.
  • Please request no editing including background removal/brightening to be done to the photo.
  • Photos with an unatural or removed backgrounds will be rejected.

4. Parents proof of identity

  • Copies of both parents’ identity documents that show their name, photo, signature and current address (Copies do not need to be certified)
  • Name changes: If the current names of either parent are different to how they appear on the child’s birth certificate, please include certified documents that explain the change of name.

5. Guarantor

  • A guarantor must sign section 11 of the application form. Remember the guarantor must also endorse the back of a passport photo by writing ‘This is a true photo of [the child’s full name]’ and signing in black pen. Refer here for more information on guarantor requirements.​

6. Consent

  • Parental Consent is required for a child passport.  Everyone who’s giving consent must sign section 15 of the form in front of a witness. Ensure all both parts A & B filled in. Witness cannot be related to you or reside at your home address.

7. Lodge your application

  • Book an appointment with Australian High Commission Singapore using SetMore to lodge in person
  • You will need to make payment at time of appointment via Visa, Mastercard or AMEX. We charge in Australian Dollars only and cannot accept cash.

8. We'll tell you when your passport is ready​

  • We will email you when your passport has arrived at the High Commission for you to collect, or when we have posted it to your Singapore home address. We are unable to post passports outside of Singapore. Please allow a minimum of 15 business days from payment for your application  to be completed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I travel on my current passport while I wait for my new passport to arrive?

Yes, your current passport will remain valid until you are issued with your replacement.

Do I send my current passport with the renewal application?

No.

Do I need to send a copy of my passport with my application?

No.

How will I know if the High Commission has received my application​?

Unless you are contacted directly about your passport application, an acknowledgement of payment in your bank records is confirmation your application has been received and processed. 

How long will it take​?

Passports are currently taking around six weeks from receipt of a fully completed application and payment to arrive at the High Commission. Incomplete applications will cause delays.

What if I need to travel urgently, but already mailed in my renewal application​?

Will the High Commission post my new passport to me​?

On your payment authorisation form can choose to have us mail your new passport OR collect from the Australian High Commission (25 Napier Road, Singapore, 258507). We are unable to mail passports to addresses outside of Singapore.

My passport has expired. Can I still renew it by mail​?

If you meet all of the eligibility criteria for a PC8 renewal by mail, then yes, you can renew your passport by mail - even if it has expired.
