Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Julie Bishop, and Minister for Trade & Investment, Andrew Robb, were joined by over 300 guests at a celebration for the original Colombo Plan and the New Colombo Plan at the Australian High Commissioner's residence on 22 August 2014.

A host of prominent Australian Alumni of Singapore (AAS) members were in attendance, including Singapore's Second Minister for Trade and Industry, and Colombo Plan scholar, S Iswaran, an alumnus of Adelaide University.

The AAS took the opportunity to announce it will be offering a hospitality program for New Colombo Plan students.

This will involve Singaporean alumni taking a New Colombo Plan student out for a Singaporean experience, such as dinner at a hawker centre, home cooked meal or sightseeing.

The aim of the initiative is to connect alumni and New Colombo Plan students and to add to the New Colombo Plan students’ cultural experience in Singapore.
