Monday 28 January 2013
On Thursday Australian High Commissioner to Singapore Philip Green delivered an address and engaged in a question and answer session with students and staff from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.
Mr Green discussed how Asia’s rise is changing the world. This is a defining feature of the 21st century – the Asian Century. These developments have profound implications for all nations.
The speech provided an overview of the key elements of Asia’s rapid transformation and highlighted measures Australia is taking to ensure it remains deeply enmeshed in this dynamic region.
The recently released 'Australia in the Asian Century' White Paper tells us that Australia's success as a nation in the Asian century will be based on choice, not chance, and the speech discussed a number of the key decisions Australia must take if it is to make the most of the opportunities presented by the Asian Century.
