Application for Registration of Australian Citizenship by Descent
Please note that all items listed below must be presented at time of application to allow processing of the registration application within the service standard.
It is not necessary for children to be present at the time of application.
1. Form 118 completed and signed by the responsible Australian citizen parent.

2. Provide supporting information as in the attached checklist

Note that the checklist requires additional information to be provided if the applicant's mother is not an Australian citizen. All cases involving use of IVF, donor sperm or surrogacy must be declared at time of application (such as including a letter from the consulting specialist).
Routine applications are finalised within five working days. Applications that do not include all the supporting evidence may take longer to assess.
If the child requires an Australian passport please contact the Consular Section at the High Commission (ph: + 65 6836 4100). An Australian passport cannot be obtained until the Citizenship by Descent certificate has been issued.

IMPORTANT: The name on the Citizenship Certificate will be as listed on the child’s birth certificate. If you would like the order of names changed please indicate your preference in the application and advise the Counter staff of this request. Please note that a change will only be agreed to if it conforms to standard naming conventions.
